Giving help versus accepting help

I don't know about you, but this is one of those areas in my life that I have struggled with. I am willing to be the first one to the scene if a friend's car breaks down on the side of the highway, but I would hesitate at calling that same friend if I needed the aid.

Why is it that we hesitate to ask for help, yet freely give of ourselves? Is it a fear of rejection? Is it a fear of someone keeping score? Is it a simple case of embarrassment?

No matter the reason for the hesitation, I believe most people want you to ask for help when it is needed. By not stopping to ask for help, you are robbing that person of the joy of providing you aid.
